The Higher Power of Lucky - Newberry Winner 2007

The Higher Power of Lucky was recommended to me by a friend of mine. She told me that she read it to her 5th grade class, and it was a big hit. I decided to give the book a chance.

At first, I was unsure of how I was going to like the book, it started off a little slow, but after learning more about Lucky and her background, I felt symphathy towards her.

Although the book contains content that I would not want my 2nd graders to read just yet, I would recommend this book to an older audience.

The trials that Lucky encounters, such as when she is missing Brigitte terribly and "decides to run away very soon".

This reminds me of a time when I was in school and things were not going my way. I felt like the world was falling apart all around me. I even wondered, if I ran away, would anyone notice? I bet this is how Lucky was feeling. How would the story have ended differently if Lucky had truly acted on every feeling that she had? How would your life be different if you acted on every feeling that you had? Would you be the person that you are today?
