Knuffle Bunny is a light hearted story that quickly became one of my favorite children's books. When our young main character loses her beloved Knuffle Bunny at the laundry mat, she tries everything she knows how to convey to her father that they must turn around and get Knuffle Bunny. Her father, becoming very frustrated that he had no idea what his young child was saying, drug the child home to its mother. Upon arriving home, the mother instantly understood the child and they all ran back to rescue the bunny! Not only is the story easy to relate to, but the pictures bring real life images to the pages. With the addition of cartoons, and real photographs, the book gives the readers the impression that it is a true story unfolding live in New York City.
As a mother, there have been many times when my daughter is trying to convey something to her daddy and I, that we just can't understand! Of course, we get frustrated, but I'm sure she gets frustrated just as much!
When I was in college, I shared a dorm room with my best friend at the time. She borrowed one of my favorite necklaces to wear to her brothers graduation. When she came back to the dorm that afternoon, immediately I noticed something was missing, my necklace! We ran down the hall to her car to go backtrack all the places that she had been until eventually we found the necklace at her parents house. How relieved I felt when my favorite necklace had been found. Unlike the character in the book, I was able to verbalize what was missing, but just like the character, I could not concentrate until my necklace was found!
Has there ever been a time when you lost something valuable to you? How did it make you feel? Were you able to find it?
